Osteoarthritis is the most common type of hip arthritis. Also called wear-and-tear arthritis or degenerative joint disease, osteoarthritis is essentially acquired from daily wear and tear of the joint. As the disease progresses the cartilage of the joint is gradually worn away. As the protective cartilage is worn away by hip arthritis, the two opposing bones begin to erode into each other.

Common symptoms of hip arthritis include:

  • Pain with activities
  • Limited range of motion
  • Stiffness of the hip
  • Walking with a limp
